Austin Ledbetter is in great need of your help! He has been moved to the ICU at Children’s because his kidneys are shutting down.
Please everyone pray for Austin, Stephanie and their family. Austin has always been such an inspiration to all of us; fighting through not feeling well at more than one games but competing anyway. He has, even as a child, gone the extra mile. Now, he needs our prayers more than ever before.
I know I can count of Team Alabama to do our part in helping Austin. The Lord can do great and miraculous things, we just need to ask.
PRAY!
Thanks,
Jim Simons

Hey! This is Stephanie. Austin is at UAB. He has been here since September 29, 2008 (except for 5 days). He was moved to CICU over the weekend because his kidney were shutting down. His blood pressure was too low and he was having to have a lot of oxygen to keep his SAT’s up.
We are now back on the floor. He is getting IVIG right now because his immune system(IGg’s) are so low. His IGg’s were 175 yesterday. Normal is 600 or better. They will check them again in the morning. The test will come back the next day. He is still leaking fluid out of the two chest tubes. About 200 to 300 cc’s a day per tube. He has a big chest tube on the right, and a Pericardial drain being used as a chest tube on left(pig tail). Pericardial drains hold up better than the other one. He has had the majority of the Immunoglobulin already. It was to run over 24 hours to keep his kidneys from shutting down again. He will be finished at 6:00pm today. They will check another creatinine level this afternoon and in the morning.
Last week , Austin had a Thoracotomy with VATS procedure done to try and stop the fluid. I found out yesterday that they broke one of his ribs to do the procedure. He has a 6 inch incision.
Now, we are in another “hold pattern” (wait and see).
I’m so sorry to hear about your battle for Austin. We’ve never had to fight that hard for Savannah so far except in the very beginning when we saw Jesus’ miracles day after day, minute by minute, week after week. She’s been hospitalized many, many times but never for this long as Austin has this time. I pray for your strength in Jesus Name. I pray for your Joy.. it is your strength. I pray for the Lord’s mercy that you won’t grow weary. I pray for the Lord to give you good health care workers and to give you the will and knowledge to be ever on guard to watch over Austin while you are in the hospital. I pray that you will allow the Lord to carry you through this time. I pray that Austin will know that Jesus loves him and is with him and does not want him to suffer. I pray for Austin’s peace and strength of will and spirit. I pray that Austin will be a witness for the Kingdom here on this earth each and every day in Jesus Name.
Austin is slowly getting over his surgery. He still has some fluid on the right side, but it isn’t a lot. It just won’t go away and stay away. Everything that I read online explains that if the cause is not fixed, the fluid will keep coming back. All the reasons for pleural effusions are scary. Thank you, Pat for the nice reply.
